NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Mitchell College women's basketball team fell behind early and was unable to catch up Saturday afternoon, dropping a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest to Colby-Sawyer College at the Dan & Kathleen Hogan Sports Center.
Senior Jamya Beddoe (New London, Conn.) and sophomore Jordyn Streitmatter (Brewster, Mass.) paced the Mariners with 18 points apiece.
The Mariners found themselves in an early hole as the Chargers raced out to a 29–10 lead by the end of the opening quarter. The deficit proved too large for Mitchell to overcome, as the Mariners trailed by 21 points at intermission with three Colby-Sawyer players scoring in double figures in the first half. The Chargers then outscored Mitchell by six in the third quarter and rolled to their eighth victory of the season.
Tanner Drury and Emily Leonard led all scorers for Colby-Sawyer with 19 points apiece, while Elyza Mitchell and Lauren MacDonald each added 12.
The Mariners (2–14, 0–7 GNAC) return home after a three-game road trip to host Dean College on Tuesday, February 3, at 5:00 p.m.
