Women's LAX Trio Honored by NECC
MANSFIELD, Mass. -- Three members of the Mitchell College women's lacrosse team were honored by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday morning.
Senior Hannah Corrigan was named NECC Offensive Player of the Week while freshmen Jessica Krupnikoff and Kathryn Barillaro were tabbed NECC Defensive Player of the Week and NECC Rookie of the Week, respectively. All three earned the distinction for the first time in their careers.
Corrigan has started all four games this season and leads the Mariners in scoring with nine goals and two assists for 11 points. She also leads the team in ground balls and ranks second in draw controls and caused turnovers. The veteran midfielder has found the back of the net in every single game, including a season-high five times against Castleton University.
Krupnikoff, a defender, has started all four games and leads the Mariners in caused turnovers.
Barillaro has started all four games for the Mariners this season. She grabbed four ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers in her collegiate debut at the University of Saint Joseph, and in the next game against Eastern Connecticut State University she notched her first career point with an assist. The rookie attackman then found the back of the net for her first career goal against Castleton and also added an assist in the contest.
Mitchell (0-4 overall) hosts Rhode Island College later today at 4 p.m.
