Men's LAX Duo Nets NECC Weekly Honors
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Two members of the Mitchell College men's lacrosse team were recognized by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday as the league announced its weekly honors.
Freshman Aidan Messuri was named NECC Rookie of the Week while classmate Steven Turchetta was tabbed NECC Defensive Player of the Week. It marked the second straight week that Messuri was recognized and the first for Turchetta.
The two Mitchell rookies turned in solid performances against Russell Sage College last week. Messuri recorded a goal and an assist and also scooped up a team-high five ground balls to go with one caused turnover. Turchetta finished with a season-high 10 saves against 15 shots while playing the final 30 minutes in goal.
Messuri has started and played in all four games this season and leads the team with seven goals. Turchetta has played in four games and leads the Mariners with 26 total saves.
Mitchell (1-3 overall) travels to Dean College for a match-up on Tuesday, March 8 at noon.
