Men’s Lacrosse Dropped by Regis on the Road
WESTON, Mass. – The Mitchell College men's lacrosse team dropped a 20–2 decision to Regis College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Wednesday afternoon at Regis Stadium.
Mitchell struck first when sophomore Nathan Mahoney (Stonington, Conn.) scored an unassisted goal just under three minutes into the contest. Regis responded with five straight goals to close out the opening quarter and added five more in the second to take a 10–1 lead into halftime.
The Pride continued to control the pace in the second half, outscoring the Mariners 10–1 over the final two quarters to secure the conference victory. Mahoney accounted for both Mitchell goals, adding a second unassisted tally in the third quarter.
Mahoney finished with a team-high two goals on four shots, including two on goal. Junior Gregory Powell (Middletown, Conn.) led the defensive effort with five ground balls and five caused turnovers, while freshman Graham Brown (Southlake, Texas) registered a shot on goal.
In goal, junior Cameron Haefs (Chicago, Ill.) made 12 saves over the opening 20:16, while junior Justice Arroyo (Beacon, N.Y.) recorded seven saves in relief.
Regis was led by Jack Jaynes, who scored a game-high six goals and added an assist.
Regis held advantages in shots (69–6), ground balls (76–21), and faceoffs (23–2), controlling possession throughout the contest.
The Mariners (0–6, 0–6 GNAC) return to action on Saturday, April 4, at home against Emmanuel College.
